02Mechanism of Action
5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme that methylates nicotinamide. By inhibiting NNMT, research models report increased availability of nicotinamide for NAD+ salvage and altered S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) flux.
It is studied particularly in adipocyte metabolic models for its effects on cellular energy metabolism. Note: this is a small molecule, not a peptide.

05FAQ
What is 5-Amino-1MQ?
5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule NNMT inhibitor studied for NAD+ salvage and adipocyte metabolism in research models. It is a research-use-only compound and is not a peptide.
What enzyme does 5-Amino-1MQ inhibit?
It inhibits nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), studied for downstream effects on NAD+ availability and methylation flux.
What is 5-Amino-1MQ's molecular weight?
5-Amino-1MQ has a molecular weight of approximately 159.21 g/mol and CAS number 1199796-29-6.
How should 5-Amino-1MQ be stored?
5-Amino-1MQ ships lyophilized and should be handled per standard research-peptide practice — kept cold, protected from light and moisture, and reconstituted only for laboratory use. Cold-chain handling is used where required. For research use only.
Is 5-Amino-1MQ approved for human use?
No. 5-Amino-1MQ is sold strictly for laboratory research use only and is not a drug or supplement. It is not approved for human or veterinary use or consumption.
How is 5-Amino-1MQ tested at Ethos Bio?
Every 5-Amino-1MQ lot is independently verified by MZ Biolabs, a third-party analytical laboratory in Arizona, on a five-point panel — RP-HPLC purity, HPLC-MS identity, endotoxin (LAL), heavy metals, and sterility. A lot-specific certificate of analysis ships with the vial. See How We Test for the full methodology.
