Research Overview
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide based on the ACTH(4-10) fragment, modified for stability. Its principal research property is upregulation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its receptor TrkB, studied in neuronal-culture and neuroprotection models.
Additional investigations examine effects on dopaminergic and serotonergic signaling and inhibition of enkephalin-degrading enzymes. All work is in research models.
