Research Overview
MTP is a cell-permeable, mitochondria-targeting tetrapeptide that concentrates on the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it selectively binds the phospholipid cardiolipin. Research models report that this interaction stabilizes cristae architecture and supports efficient electron transport.
By preserving membrane organization it is studied for its capacity to reduce reactive-oxygen-species (ROS) generation and protect mitochondrial bioenergetics.
